Seven days in Morocco for under $1,000 all-in — including the flight — is one of the most common questions budget travellers ask, and the answer is a clear yes, with caveats. The dirham is cheap against the dollar and the euro, street food is spectacularly good for almost nothing, and the bus network covers most of the country for a fraction of what a tourist minibus costs. The challenge is the flight, which eats the largest single chunk of that budget.
The itinerary below covers two cities — Marrakech and Fes, with a day trip to Aït Benhaddou — which is enough to feel Morocco rather than merely skim it. Prices are indicative and based on 2025–2026 averages; exchange rates shift, so treat all USD figures as a guide rather than a guarantee.

This route — Marrakech, a kasbah day trip, the bus north, then Fes — keeps transport costs low and maximises time in the two cities where Morocco is most itself.
Days 1–2
Jemaa el-Fna at dusk, Majorelle Garden (indicative entry ~70 MAD / $7), Mellah spice souks, hammam session (~100–200 MAD). Eat harira and kefta from stall no. 14 in the square — budget 60–80 MAD per meal.

Days 5–6
