The drive & arrival tips
The drive heads north through rolling farmland and into the Rif foothills, climbing to Chefchaouen’s perch at around 600 m, about 3–3.5 hours. The final approach into the mountains is scenic, and a private car lets you stop for the classic photo of the town against the peaks.
Your driver meets you in the Saiss arrivals hall and, at Chefchaouen, drops you at the medina gate nearest your riad — the old town is steep and car-free inside. The bus alternative (from Fes station) is cheaper but slow, scheduled, and ends at Chefchaouen’s bus terminal below the medina.
