The drive & arrival tips
The city drive takes 20–30 minutes to Fes el-Bali or the ville nouvelle. The medina is car-free, so your driver stops at the closest gate — Bab Bou Jeloud, Bab Rcif or another near your riad — and helps arrange a porter, because navigating those lanes with suitcases is nobody’s idea of a good arrival.
Your driver waits in the Saiss arrivals hall with a name board. Grand taxis here charge roughly 120–150 MAD to the city by day, but Fes-Saiss handles few late flights and the rank can empty out after about 22:00 — the single biggest reason to pre-book if you are arriving at night.
By day a taxi and a private sedan cost similar money; the transfer wins on a guaranteed car late at night, an English-speaking driver who knows which gate serves your riad, and a fixed price with no medina "extra".
