The drive & arrival tips
The town run is a quick 10 minutes; the scenery starts just beyond it, as the road threads the Ziz Valley’s palm gorges south toward Erfoud (about an hour) and on to Merzouga (roughly 2 hours). These are long, empty desert roads where a reliable car and driver matter.
Your driver meets you in the small arrivals hall with a name board. Local taxis handle the short town hop cheaply, so for Errachidia itself a transfer is about convenience rather than saving money.
The honest case for booking ahead is the desert: taxis toward Erfoud, Rissani and Merzouga are scarce and the drive is long and remote, so a fixed-price private car with a driver who knows the Ziz road is far more reassuring than a one-way haggle. For the town alone, a local taxi is fine.
