The drive & arrival tips
The drive to central Ouarzazate hotels and the Atlas Studios area is only 5–10 minutes; Ait Ben Haddou is about 30–40 minutes west and Skoura around 40 minutes east toward the Dades. These are open desert roads where an air-conditioned car with a local driver makes a real difference.
Your driver meets you in the small arrivals hall with a name board. Town taxis are cheap for the short hop — roughly 30–50 MAD — so for the hotel run a transfer is about convenience and a guaranteed car rather than saving money.
The honest case for booking ahead is the onward journey: Ait Ben Haddou, Skoura and the desert gateways are long stretches with few taxis, and a private driver who knows the route, the light for photos and the kasbah stops is worth far more than a haggled one-way fare. For the town hotel alone, a local taxi is perfectly fine.
