The route climbs the Tizi n’Tichka — a spectacular, winding pass that has been widened in recent years but still demands a driver who knows it. Expect 4–4.5 hours with viewpoint stops; the scenery through the Atlas is the highlight, not the endurance test some make it.
Your driver meets you in the Menara arrivals hall. This is a poor route for a haggled grand taxi: it is long, mountainous and cold at altitude, and shared taxis cram passengers for a fare that buys none of the comfort or the stops. Many visitors also underestimate how tiring the pass is to self-drive after a flight.
