Dar Zerhoune

Dar Zerhoune is a charming boutique guesthouse perched on the hillside of the holy town of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, overlooking the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis and the rolling green hills of the Meknes region. For centuries, non-Muslims were forbidden from spending the night in this sacred town, and Dar Zerhoune was among the first guesthouses to welcome international travelers when the restriction was lifted.

The property is run by a passionate British-Moroccan couple who have lovingly restored this traditional house into a warm and stylish retreat. The rooms are simple but beautifully appointed, with whitewashed walls, colorful Moroccan textiles, and personal touches that give the space a genuine homey atmosphere.

The rooftop terrace is the crown jewel, offering one of the most spectacular views in Morocco: a sweeping panorama of the Roman ruins, the hilltop town below, and olive groves stretching to the horizon.
