About Imlil

Imlil is a small Amazigh village nestled at 1,740 meters in the Imlil Valley, serving as the primary starting point for treks to Jebel Toubkal (4,167m), the highest mountain in North Africa. The village has grown from a handful of stone houses into a well-equipped trekking hub with guesthouses, mountain guides, and mule hire services, yet it retains its traditional character with terraced walnut groves and irrigated fields clinging to the valley slopes.

The surrounding High Atlas landscape is stunning at every season: almond blossoms carpet the valleys in spring, summer brings wildflower meadows, autumn turns the walnut trees golden, and winter caps the peaks with snow. Beyond the Toubkal ascent, the area offers numerous day hikes to Amazigh villages like Armed, Tachdirt, and the Azzaden Valley, where life continues much as it has for centuries.

The Kasbah du Toubkal, a former feudal stronghold converted into a mountain lodge, is one of Morocco's most atmospheric places to stay.
