A surreal alpine town at 1,665m in the Middle Atlas Mountains. Red-roofed houses, manicured gardens, and a stone lion sculpture make Ifrane look like it belongs in Switzerland. Built by the French as a hill station, it's now home to Al Akhawayn University. In winter, it snows; in summer, it's a cool escape from the plains. The nearby forests are gorgeous.
