Day 1
Marrakech → Tizi n'Tichka → Aït Benhaddou → Dades Valley
An early departure catches the Atlas quiet before coach traffic builds. The Tizi n'Tichka pass tops out at 2,260 m — the road switchbacks are genuinely dramatic, and a stop at a Berber village tea house for msemen and argan oil sets the tone for the south. Aït Benhaddou occupies two to three hours: crossing the riverbed on stepping stones and climbing to the summit granary gives panoramas that explain every film director who has ever pointed a camera at it. After Ouarzazate (a film-studio photo stop if you want one) you continue east into the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs and overnight in Boumalne Dades.
