About Agadir
Agadir was rebuilt from scratch after a devastating earthquake in 1960 leveled the city in 15 seconds, killing 15,000 people. The modern city that rose from the rubble is Morocco's most European-feeling resort destination: a wide promenade, luxury hotels, golf courses, and 300 days of sunshine per year.
The 10-kilometer beach is the finest urban beach in Morocco. But Agadir is also the gateway to the stunning Souss-Massa National Park (home to the endangered Northern Bald Ibis), the Anti-Atlas mountains with their unique argan trees, and the charming town of Taroudant.
The Souk El Had, one of the largest markets in the country, offers an authentic shopping experience away from the resort zone. Nearby Taghazout has become Morocco's premier surf village.
