March–May is the most photogenic window: almond and fruit trees in blossom in the Atlas valleys, warm days in the cities without summer humidity, and the roses in bloom around Kelaât M’Gouna (mid-May). Light is extraordinary in April — long golden hours that make riad courtyards glow at dusk.
September–November is the other sweet spot. Marrakech cools to comfortable after the punishing summer; the Sahara is pleasantly warm at noon and sharply cold at night (bringing the stars out clearly). October is consistently the month with the lowest rainfall across the country and the best dune light for photography.
December–February suits couples who want a quieter trip, lower prices, and snow on the Atlas within day-trip distance of Marrakech. City days are mild (15–20°C), desert nights drop close to freezing — bring warm layers. The hammam is especially appealing in winter.
June–August: manageable in coastal Essaouira and Chefchaouen, but Marrakech peaks above 40°C and Sahara midday temperatures can exceed 48°C. A summer desert trip needs all activities before 9 am and after 5 pm.
