Imlil Village
1,740 m elevation
The village itself clusters around a central square and a kasbah guesthouse. Most trekkers base themselves here: it is the last point vehicles can reach, restaurants stay open until 10 pm, and porters can be arranged in the morning. Expect clean double rooms with wool blankets, a shared bathroom in basic options, and an ensuite with hot water in the mid-range guesthouses. Rates run from around 200–600 MAD per person per night including dinner and breakfast (indicative).
Named options
- Kasbah du Toubkal — restored caïd’s kasbah, the best-known lodge in the valley; ensuite rooms and a roof terrace
- Dar Imlil — simple guesthouse run by a Berber family; excellent tajine, shared bathrooms
- Riad Atlas Toubkal — mid-range comfort with mountain views from the terrace
Best for: First-timers, comfort seekers, day-trippers pushing to a higher camp next morning
