Argan Forest and Biosphere Reserve
The road north-east from Agadir immediately enters the Arganeraie Biosphere Reserve, a vast landscape of gnarly argan trees that exists almost nowhere else on earth. If you visit between April and June you may see goats climbing the branches to eat the oil-bearing fruit — this is genuine behaviour, not a tourist photo-op, though some roadside herders have learned that visitors will pay for a photo stop. The oil pressed from the kernels is worth buying from a cooperative rather than a souk, where adulteration is common.
