Fix your trip length and travel dates
Before anything else, decide how many days you have. A week is the minimum to see Marrakech and the Sahara without feeling rushed; ten to fourteen days lets you add Fes, Chefchaouen and the coast. Then choose your season. October–November and March–April are the sweet spots — comfortable across all terrain, no extreme heat, and the Sahara is golden rather than scorching. Avoid mid-July and August for the desert; the midday sand can hit 50°C and the camel trek becomes a slog rather than a pleasure.
