Dar Hatim is the ultimate home-cooking experience in the Fes medina, a family-run restaurant where the matriarch of the Hatim family and her daughters prepare an ever-changing set menu of authentic Fassi cuisine in their beautifully decorated home. Dining here is not simply eating at a restaurant; it is being welcomed into a Moroccan family.

The experience begins when you are met at the medina gate and guided through the labyrinthine streets to the family's traditional dar (house). Inside, the dining room features gorgeous zellige tilework, carved stucco, and painted wooden ceilings. You are seated at communal tables set with elegant Moroccan pottery and silverware.

The set menu, which changes daily based on what is fresh at the souk, typically includes five or six courses of traditional Fassi specialties. Dishes like rfissa (shredded pastry with lentils and chicken), pastilla, slow-cooked tagines, and elaborate desserts represent centuries of culinary knowledge passed down through the women of Fes.
