Days 1–3
Marrakech
Riad arrival, medina wandering, rooftop dinners
Land in Marrakech and do nothing on your first evening except check in to your riad, order mint tea on the rooftop, and listen to the call to prayer echo across the medina. Days two and three are for going slow: the Saadian Tombs before the crowds arrive, the Bahia Palace courtyards, a morning in the souks where you should absolutely expect to haggle for argan products and lanterns. Book a hammam for the afternoon — many riads can arrange a private session at a traditional neighbourhood bathhouse rather than the tourist hammam circuit. Dinner at a rooftop restaurant off Jemaa el-Fna with a view of the Koutoubia minaret is as romantic as the city gets.
- Stay inside the medina walls for atmosphere
- Book your hammam through the riad, not off the street
- Djemaa el-Fna is best after 9 pm when the food stalls are in full swing
