The Blue Staircase on Rue Targui
This is the most reproduced image in Chefchaouen. The staircase curves left past two powder-blue arched doorways, and the lane is narrow enough that the walls frame the shot naturally. Arrive before 7 am in summer (6:30 am in spring/autumn) and you will have it to yourself for 20–30 minutes. A cat often sits on the third step — expect it; it is part of the composition.
Shooting tip: Shoot from the bottom of the stairs pointing up; the perspective collapses the blue walls into a gradient that reads beautifully on phone and DSLR alike.
